“It is through the alignment of the body that I discovered the alignment of my mind, self, and intelligence.”
— B.K.S. Iyengar
Alignment is more than how a pose looks — it’s how the body is organized to support clarity, strength, and awareness. In yoga, alignment refers to the way we arrange the body in each asana by stacking bones, creating supportive lines, and cultivating balance between effort and ease. This foundation allows the practice to unfold safely while maximizing its physical and energetic benefits.
Whether you are newer to yoga or have been practicing for years, alignment is not something we “master” once and move on from. It’s something we revisit again and again. As our bodies change, so does the way we meet each pose. Reestablishing alignment helps us move with greater confidence, stability, and intention — both on and off the mat.

Thank you, Kristen, for hosting this workshop. And thank you, Shirley, for being my neighbor on the mat next to me!
I found this workshop to be so helpful, since I practice on the virtual side. I was able to really focus & zoom in on the proper alignment of the poses, following Kristen’s visual & spoken instructions. Kristen is an excellent teacher, and gives very clear instructions & guidance. I’m hoping for a part 2 workshop in the future. Great workshop!!
Thank you so much for sharing this—it truly means a lot. 💛
Kristen puts so much care into her teaching, and hearing that her visual and verbal guidance landed clearly is wonderful to know.
And how sweet to feel connected across the mat—that sense of community matters.
So grateful you joined us, and hope to practice together again soon!
